OUR DISCIPLINE FOR LEARNING (DFL) POLICY
Sanctions
If a rule is not being followed, pupils are given a warning. If the rule continues to be broken then a sanction is issued. There are two types of sanctions that may be issued: behaviour sanction and homework sanction.

Serious Misbehaviour Note
If the behaviour displayed in school is more serious than merely breaking a rule, then a serious misbehaviour note is issued. These notes are issued for:
-
Deliberate continued defiance.
-
Verbal and physical abuse, including sexist and racist remarks.
-
Deliberate damage to property.
-
Swearing and/or spitting at someone.

Lunch-time expectations
If a child breaks a lunch-time rule the child’s name will be noted in the lunch-time incident book. After this, a sanction will be issued. An accumulation of lunch-time sanctions can lead to an eventual suspension from lunch at school.
*You will know if your child receives any of the above, as the sanction/serious misbehaviour note will go home for you to acknowledge and sign

Rewards
Our main system of rewarding pupils is by giving pupils merit marks, recorded in their personal passports. These are given for outstanding effort and/or standard of work or behaviour. They are also given to pupils who promote the ethos of the school and display positive attitudes such as tolerance, kindness and helpfulness. Merit marks are recorded on the child’s individual merit passport.
